What started out as a simple idea of doing a cookbook based around webcomic characters has blossomed into a full fledged campaign to help raise money for the hungry in North America. “Webcomics: What’s Cooking?” is that cookbook that will feature dozens and dozens of recipes from popular webcomic creators showcasing a variety of recipes from Breakfast to Dinner and a few things in between!

The cookbook will feature a full page, custom created comic from each participating artist along side a favorite dish or beverage.

From Alien Cupcakes to Alamo Queso to Chicago style Deep Dish Pizza to Oreo Truffles, you are sure to find a dish that will satisfy your hunger.

The concept behind the cookbook is “Feed Your Family, Feed the World”. You purchase the cookbook and receive all these wonderful recipes to create for your family or friends and the proceeds from the project go to Canadian and American National Food Banks to help feed those in need. You couldn’t ask for a better combination. Satisfy your hunger and those in need as well.

The book will be available in time to celebrate the Holiday season. With the help of sponsors and your pre-orders, the proceeds of this not-for-profit cookbook will bring thousands of needy individuals and families a good meal and more, hope.

Pre-Order your 90+ page, full color cookbook for $20 – here: http://tgtmedia.com/preorder and have it in time for the holiday season!

The webcomic community have really gotten behind this cookbook to help these National Food Banks; Not only with their amazing recipes, but also their creative talent in showing that can have fun as artists and bringing their individually unique creative styles.

Strength – From the Webcomics Tarot

No. 8 - Strength

No. 8 - Strength

Yeah, I’ve got a bit of overdue art here. This bit is for the Webcomics Tarot by Senshuu. Technically, there was no due date for the piece, but I got the assignment over a year ago.

I struggled to do an image that meant something. The card is pretty rife with symbolism, but its not an image that talked to me. And who among my characters really symbolized self control and inner strength? That’d have to be Geoff, who is easily the strongest out of all the main characters. But he really doesn’t know that he’s a powerhouse, he’s more of an intellectual. And the lion has layers of symbolism as well. In the traditional tarot images, the lion is being tamed by a maiden, showing the inner beast being restrained. Here the lion is one of the ones that greet visitors to the main entrance of the Boston Public Library.

And strength, this inner kind of quiet strength, is something I’ve been searching for lately. It’s been a tough year for many, many reasons. Some good, some bad. I think I need to trust that it’s always been there, but the beast has been roaring too loud for me to hear it.

Webcomics Walkabout

Webcomic creators are a sedentary lot. Add to the fact that when given some free time, we’re more than likely staying indoors to work on said comic. We eat crap. We hang out with other comic artists that eat crap.

This needs to change.

This challenge is to get webcomic creators up and moving. Just a half-hour each day. I’m not expecting you to run a marathon in a week. This is to get you healthy. See how many miles you can move by New England Webcomic Weekend.

You can find the challenge at the Nike + site here: http://tinyurl.com/2anbmek or look up the challenege “Webcomics Walkabout.”

BTW, fans are more than welcome to join, but this challenge is really for the creators. Thanks!

…or “What I Did On My Summer Vacation – by Bowie Swiftriver. Age 27.”

I went to the Cape on my yearly vacation. Apparently, Bowie went there too, but made a new “friend” somewhere along the way. Enjoy!
