Before the T started using a pleasant computerized voice to announce all the stops, the actual conductors would announce where you were. One time, my ex boyfriend and I were waiting for a train, and Elmer Fudd  came on the loud speaker. We blinked at each other a few times. He then turned to me and repeated what Fudd said. “Thewe will be wed wine deways on awl Bwaintwee Twains?”

Another time I was riding the T with a bunch of friends. There was a chime over the loudspeaker, signaling an announcement. All that came out was something that we swear sounded like “Schweh!” The computer voice just isn’t the same.
